CASHEW MARKET REPORT JUNE 30, 2026

The cashew market on June 30, 2026 continued to record a slight upward trend as the supply of raw cashews from West Africa narrowed, while demand for kernels...

I. OVERVIEW OF THE VIETNAMESE AND INTERNATIONAL MARKETS

General trend

Intense competition for remaining stock is increasing the sense of scarcity in West African markets. Cashew kernel orders, both spot and forward, remain steady. This is encouraging Asian processors to adjust their bid prices upwards, despite rising shipping costs potentially leading to higher prices at the point of consumption.

The return of liquidity in the cashew market also boosted orders for raw cashews from West Africa. Amid declining supply, raw cashew prices continued to edge up slightly, even for low-recovery grades such as 44 lbs.

Exports to China – the largest market – decreased to 60,023 tons, a 9% drop. Exports to the US remained almost unchanged at 59,555 tons.

Imports of raw cashew nuts in the first half of June 2026 reached 130,320 tons, an increase of 14,583 tons (13%). Cumulative imports of raw cashew nuts into Vietnam up to June 15, 2026 reached 1,578,681 tons, an increase of 142,739 tons (10%) compared to the same period last year.

II. SITUATION IN WEST AFRICAN COUNTRIES

Most West African countries have either finished or are entering the final stages of the harvest. Primary supply has decreased sharply, with transactions mainly revolving around the remaining inventory held by traders and collectors. The continuing monsoon season is hindering collection and drying operations and affecting the quality of the remaining goods.

Togo

In Togo, the market has entered the final stage of the season.

Prices at the source region range from 520 to 580 FCFA/kg, while prices at Lomé port reach 680 to 700 FCFA/kg.

Burkina Faso

Procurement at the source has ended. Resale of existing inventory between traders is rapidly decreasing.

In Bobo Dioulasso, the purchase price reached 450-525 FCFA/kg, while in other areas it was 400-425 FCFA/kg with a slight increase in the maximum price.

Ivory Coast

In Ivory Coast, procurement at the source has essentially ended, although some local farmers and traders still have small quantities of unsold stock.

Prices at the factory and port range from 450 to 500 FCFA/kg, depending on the buyer.

Guinea

In Guinea, the raw cashew market remained stable this week. The harvesting season has ended, and the remaining stock is largely of lower quality due to the impact of heavy rains.

Prices in the Boké region ranged from 9,000 to 10,500 GNF/kg, while in the Kankan region they remained around 6,500 GNF/kg, stable compared to the previous week.

Guinea-Bissau

In Guinea-Bissau, export activity continues after a period of intense collection and transportation from production areas to Bissau.

Exporters' warehouse prices remained stable at 650-655 FCFA/kg.

Conversely, in producing regions, prices increased slightly due to improved demand for raw cashews, reaching 500-550 FCFA/kg.

Senegal

In Senegal, the cashew purchasing season is coming to an end, and the supply of raw cashews continues to decline.

Prices at the source region remain stable at around 600 FCFA/kg.

Wholesale price is around 650 FCFA/kg.

III. SHORT-TERM PROSPECTUS

Cashew purchasing operations in West Africa are closing almost simultaneously, pushing raw cashew supplies into a shortage and continuing to support a slight price increase across the board, even for lower-quality cashews.

However, the recovery in demand in North America, especially the US, is not yet clearly evident. Conversely, imports in Europe recorded better growth, while imports from the Middle East continued to decline sharply.

Overall, limited supply of cashew kernels and raw cashews in Vietnam may support a short-term price increase; however, global demand for cashew kernels is likely to remain stable or decline slightly in the medium term.
